Both Int’l and Washington State Photo Contests Announce Puyallup Fair Deadlines
Puyallup, WA - June 26, 2009 – Two stellar photography contests are slated to be held during the 2009 Puyallup Fair, Sept. 11-27, 2009. The 69th Northwest International Exhibition of Photography is a tradition at the Puyallup Fair, and draws entries from all corners of the globe. This is the third year for the highly popular photo contest for Washington state residents. Washington residents may enter only one contest, not both. Deadline: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 3 p.m.
This contest is approved by the Photographic Society of America (PSA), and has been held since 1937 (four years out for World War II). Recognition, including a total of 11 PSA medals, and twelve citations may be given for outstanding prints and digital images in each section. Four special Fair medals and special awards ribbons will be presented. The divisions include:
• Pictorial Print - Large Monochrome Print Division
• Pictorial Print - Large Color Print Division
• Pictorial Print - Small Monochrome Print Division
• Pictorial Print - Small Color Print Division.
• Pictorial Print - Photo Journalism Print Division
• CPID Digital Image - General
• CPID Creative Color Digital Images
• Photo Travel Digital Images
• Nature Digital Images
Deadline: Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at noon (mail or hand delivered)
Each Washington state photographer, 18 years and older, may submit a maximum of four unmounted prints, ranging from 5” x 7” to 16” x 20”. The seven categories include:
• Nature (unaltered photos)
• Portrait
• Photo Travel (unaltered photos)
• Children
• Animals – may include anything, from pets to zoo animals
• Around Washington
• General – non-specific
The Puyallup Fair first started in 1900. This Pacific Northwest tradition is one of the top ten fairs in the world in attendance, and features big name entertainment, the PRCA Rodeo, rides, exhibits, food, flowers, and animals.
